General Information

Success at the end of the preparatory education is determined by the Boğaziçi University English Proficiency Exams (BÜYES/BUEPT) given in the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall terms. This exam is given to measure whether our students are proficienct enough in English to start attend courses in their departments. BUEPT consists of Listening, Reading and Writing sections. The exam takes approximately 3.5 hours. Exam results are valid for two years.

The 2022-2023 Academic Year BUEPT/BÜYES dates are announced in the Academic Calendar approved by the Boğaziçi University Senate.

BÜYES/BUEPT application and payment terms are different according to the academic status of the students. For this reason, all students are required to follow the application conditions for each BÜYES/BUEPT after the first academic year of Preparatory education on the YADYOK website.

Students and candidates who want to take the exam must comply with the updated security measures applied in the exam.

Students who pass the Fall BÜYES/BUEPT, which is held in the year they are enrolled in the university, start their departments directly. These students do not have the right to take preparatory education.
