Attendance and Health Reports

Attendance Requirements

Students are required to attend at least 90% of the classes. Students whose absences exceed 10% of the total course hours without an excuse accepted by the YADYOK Administrative Board lose their right to attend the courses, as well as their right to take the Winter and Spring BÜYES/BUEPT exams and the Summer Term Education. The first exam these students can take is the Summer BÜYES/BUEPT.

Students can track their absenteeism through the Student Information and Registration System (ÖBİKAS/BUIS).

Excuse and Medical Report

In accordance with the decision of the University Senate, 5% of the total class hours is accepted as "health report limit". If students are on sick leave for less than five days, the time they do not attend classes on sick leave is counted towards the 5% limit, and absences within this limit are not included in the 10% absenteeism limit. If this report limit is exceeded, only the excuses of students who document their absences of five days or more with a medical report will be accepted by the Board of Directors.

These students are required to submit their reports to the YADYOK Student Affairs Office within two working days following the end of the report. If the report is not submitted on time and the student exceeds the absenteeism limit during this time, his/her name is deleted from the class lists. Students with a health report cannot attend classes and exams during their excused dates.

If students participate in social, cultural and sports activities that are not approved by the Dean of Student Affairs (ÖİD) on behalf of the Rectorate, or if they bring a report with a duration of less than 5 days, they are counted as absent for the days they do not attend the classes. In such cases, the student uses the 10% absentee right granted to him/her.

The acceptance of medical reports issued for exceptionally important cases, but which are less than five days old and issued by a full-fledged hospital, is subject to the decision of the YADYOK Board of Directors. The student must submit his/her report, along with a petition addressed to the School of Foreign Languages, to the YADYOK Registrar's Office within two working days from the end date of the report, in order to present it to the Board of Directors for evaluation. If the report of the board is found appropriate, the student is not considered absent for the days when he/she cannot attend the classes.

Students who participate in social and sports activities approved by the ÖİD on behalf of the Rectorate are also not considered absent for the courses they cannot attend.

Makeup Exam

Students who have a health report on exam days or are on leave due to cultural and sports activities approved by the ÖİD can take the Make-up Exam at the end of the semester. Except for the Health Board Report, which coincides with the exam dates, short-term state hospital, family medicine or government doctor's reports provide students with the right to take the Make-up Exam, but the days with absence are not deducted from absenteeism limit. In a semester, a student can only take the Make-up Exam for a single exam that he/she cannot take. If the student has a report in a previous exam and cannot take a second exam, the second exam grade that he cannot take is calculated as zero.

In order to take the Make-Up Exam for an exam that cannot be taken in unforeseen emergencies, students must write a petition explaining their situation and document their excuses. If the Administrative Board approves the excuse, the student can take the Make-Up Exam.

No makeup exam is held for quizes or in-class tasks.
