Leave of Absence

Students enrolled in the Preparatory School can apply to the YADYOK Executive Council with a petition explaining their excuses to obtain a term leave for the 2022-2023 academic year. The acceptance of the leave, its duration and whether it will be counted towards the duration of education (whether the student will have the right to receive preparatory education in the next academic year) is determined by the decision of the YADYOK Board.

Students who are on leave without counting towards the duration of their education (with the right to receive Preparatory education in the next academic year) can take the Summer Term English Proficiency Exam at the end of the term or year they are on leave, and they are obliged to take the Placement Exam to be held at the beginning of the academic year, when their right to receive Preparatory education is restored. These students cannot take the Winter Term and Spring Term English Proficiency Exams in the term or year they are on leave. If they have taken the “incoming” BUEPT exam, which is given to the students just starting their education at the university, they cannot take the incoming BUEPT exam in the year that their right to take their preparatory education is restored. If they have not taken the incoming BUEPT exam, they have the same exam rights as students just starting their education and can take the incoming BUEPT exam in the year their rights are restored.

Program 1 students who are on leave by counting towards the duration of education (who do not have the right to receive preparatory education in the next academic year) can take the Fall Term English Proficiency Exam at the end of the term or year they are on leave. These students cannot take the Winter and Spring and Summer English Proficiency Exams in the term or year they are on leave.

Program 2, 3 and 4 students who are on leave by counting toward the duration of education (who do not have the right to receive preparatory education in the next academic year) can take the Summer Term and Fall Term English Proficiency Exams at the end of the term or year they are on leave. These students cannot take the Winter Term and Spring Term English Proficiency Exam in the term or year they are on leave.

Students who take leave of absence (without the right to take Preparatory education in the next academic year) without taking the Placement Exam held at the beginning of the academic year are accepted as Program 1 students and can take the Fall Term English Proficiency Exam at the end of the term or year they are on leave. These students cannot take the Winter, Spring and Summer English Proficiency Exams during the term or year they are on leave.
